Building something new

A home built once, designed to be lived in for years

A new build is a rare chance to get the details right from the very beginning. Every wall, window, and light switch is still a decision waiting to be made, and those early choices quietly shape how a home feels long after the crew has gone. New construction interior design is the work of guiding those decisions with intention, so the finished home is warm, functional, and unmistakably yours rather than a collection of defaults chosen under deadline pressure.

At Dwelling Design, formerly Victoria Lane Design, we partner with homeowners across Wenatchee and the Greater Pacific Northwest to shape residential interiors that hold up to real life. Our approach brings design consulting, finish selections, and full-service furnishing together under one calm, organized process, so nothing important gets decided by accident.

The right time to begin

The best decisions happen early

The most expensive mistakes in a new home are usually the ones caught too late: an island that crowds the walkway, a bedroom short on outlets, a beautiful light fixture with nowhere to land. When we join a project during design and framing rather than after drywall, we can shape the home while it is still on paper and everything is still changeable.

Early involvement means we can pressure-test the floor plan for how you actually move through your day, confirm sightlines and natural light, and align finishes and fixtures before orders are placed. It is calmer, more cost-effective, and far kinder to your timeline than reworking decisions after they are built.

If you are still weeks or months from breaking ground, that is exactly the right moment to start a conversation.

Selections & direction

Every finish, chosen with intention

New construction lives or dies in the details, and there are hundreds of them. We help you make each one with clarity, presenting considered options, explaining the trade-offs, and keeping the whole palette in conversation with itself so the finished home reads as one cohesive story rather than a series of separate choices.

  • Finish selections. Cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and paint, coordinated as a whole.
  • Material direction. A grounded palette of textures and tones that feels warm and enduring, never trend-driven.
  • Space planning. Layouts and room flow refined for the way your household actually lives.
  • Lighting coordination. Fixture selections and placement planned alongside your builder and electrician.
  • Furniture planning & styling. Furnishing, procurement, and the final layer that makes a house feel lived in.

A calm part of the team

Working alongside your builder and contractor

You should never have to be the messenger between your designer and your builder. We fold into the team you have already assembled, from builders and contractors to architects and trades, and communicate in the language of the jobsite: clear specifications, timely selections, and decisions delivered before they hold up the schedule.

For you, that means fewer frantic questions, fewer change orders, and a single point of coordination for the interior. For your builder, it means selections arrive organized and on time. Everyone is working from the same plan, which is exactly how a large project stays calm.

Already deep into a renovation instead of a new build? Our remodel consulting brings the same steady guidance to homes that are being reimagined.

Beyond the finish schedule

A home that feels like you, not a showroom

A well-designed new home should do more than photograph well. It should hold the morning light where you drink your coffee, give your family room to gather, and feel like a genuine retreat at the end of a long day.

Our work is rooted in how you actually live: the rhythms of your household, the things you love, the way you like to host and rest. We balance beauty with function so the finished home is refined but never precious, with durable materials in the places that take a beating, comfort where you need it, and small, personal touches that make a space feel collected over time rather than ordered all at once. The result is residential interior design that feels warm, considered, and deeply lived in.

How we work

A clear path from blueprint to move-in

A considered process is what keeps a big project from feeling overwhelming. Here is how a new construction project generally unfolds with us.

01

Discovery

We start with a conversation about how you live, your timeline, your budget comfort, and the feeling you want your new home to have.

02

Planning

We review plans and layouts early, refining space planning, flow, and sightlines while everything is still easy to change.

03

Selections

Finish selections and material direction come together as one palette: cabinetry, tile, counters, flooring, fixtures, hardware, and paint.

04

Coordination

We coordinate lighting and specifications with your builder and trades, keeping decisions ahead of the construction schedule.

05

Furnish & Style

Furniture planning, furnishing, and final styling bring the home to life, ready for the first morning you wake up in it.

Good questions

New construction interior design, answered

When should we bring an interior designer into our new build?

As early as you comfortably can, ideally during the design phase, before framing. The sooner we are involved, the more we can shape layout, lighting, and finishes while changes are still easy and inexpensive. That said, it is rarely too late to help. We regularly join projects mid-build and bring order to the decisions still ahead.

Do you work directly with our builder and architect?

Yes. We coordinate closely with your builder, contractor, architect, and trades, delivering clear specifications and timely selections so your interior stays aligned with the construction schedule. You get a single point of contact for design, and your build team gets decisions when they need them.

What is included in finish selections and material direction?

We guide the choices that define your interior, from cabinetry, countertops, tile, and flooring to plumbing and lighting fixtures, hardware, and paint, along with the overall material palette and space planning. Everything is chosen in relationship to everything else, so the finished home feels cohesive rather than assembled piece by piece.

Can you also furnish and style the home once it is built?

Absolutely. Beyond construction-phase selections, we offer furniture planning, furnishing, and styling, including design planning, purchasing, and install, so your home is complete and comfortable from day one. We also offer design consulting and remodel consulting for homeowners with different needs.

Which areas do you serve?

Our studio is based in Wenatchee, WA, and we serve Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Lake Chelan, Leavenworth, Quincy, and the Greater Pacific Northwest. If you are building or renovating in the region, we would love to hear about your project.
